Jarg People Identity

Jarg People is a music and design collective involving myself and five other graphic design course mates. The aim of starting this project was to combine all of our passions for good music and good design to create a studio that focuses on creating high quality and unique work within all areas in the music industry. This includes: Record Label (vinyl, digital and cassette releases), Promotional Campaigns, Club Events, Printed media, Visual communication, exhibitions and anything else that surrounds music.

We want Jarg People to reflect our own individual tastes and ideas and make our own footprint within the world of music.

Our first step is to create an identity for ourselves.

To start we thought of how we could link the six of us into the logo and also show some individuality. We explored the idea of show that we were a group/collective.








With the inclusion of type the logo started to look too crowded and couldn't get a composition that looked right. 

We also considered where the logo would be applied - Twitter + Instagram have small spaces to view the logo so some of the detail would have been lost. Instead we opted for simplicity as this would make the logo as transferable as possible. 




After a meeting between the group we decided what we needed was a stripped back logo that could be applied and would work with the vast array of print and digital media we would be producing. We settled with the typeface ATC Harris which we purchased and obtained the commercial licence for.
